Abuse Prevention

Promoting an abuse free environment is critical to the integrity of our parish ministry and the dignity of our parish community. Recognizing that a commitment to vigilance is a commitment to prevention, St. Catherine Parish seeks to prevent all forms of abuse through awareness, action, and healing.
Objectives:

  • Verify compliance with existing prevention policies
  • Review and enhance school anti-bullying policies and training
  • Obtain and disseminate prevention information related to all forms of abuse
  • Cooperate with the Archdiocese and appropriate authorities to ensure prevention
  • Comply with all necessary reporting requirements to ensure swift remedial action

Training for all Clergy, Employees and Parish and School Volunteers who have unsupervised contact with children and vulnerable adults is mandatory. Please see the Archdiocese of Seattle Safe Environment Program for more information.  Current training requirements can be found at Safe Environment Training Requirements. A schedule of current classes can be found here.

St. Catherine Pastoral Council Prepared this List as part of its Commitment to Educate and Prevent Abuse to Provide Resources for Personal Crisis.
