Lenten Faith Sharing Sessions Focused on Consumerism
Together we will reflect on and pray about our purchasing
habits, the power of materialism in American culture, the heartbreaking
reality of sweatshops and child labor, and the toll of consumerism on
the environment. We will grapple with our challenge as faithful Roman
Catholics to respond to these concerns with love. (Materials published
by Pax Christi USA will guide these sessions.) We will meet in the Siena
Center from 7-8:30 pm on Feb 28th, 2007 and March 7th, 14th, and 21st.
Please contact Jeanne Hall if you need transportation or are willing
to provide transportation.

Whole Community Catechesis
All members of the community are encouraged to participate
in our whole community gatherings. Please mark your calendars now and
plan to attend!! This year our gatherings will focus on deepening our
appreciation of three important seasons/celebrations in the Church year.
Advent: Saturday Dec 2, 6-8:30pm:
We will meet in the school gym after 5:00 mass to share a simple meal
(food will be provided.) After dinner, children will gather in the school
cafeteria to listen to the story of the Advent Season followed by participation
in Advent crafts and activities. Youth will gather in the Siena Center
to participate in a discussion on prayer as well as to engage in a service
activity. Adults will gather in the school gym to focus on the importance
of the practice of prayer in Advent. Advent is a season that beckons
and challenges all of us to draw close to God in prayer.
After 45 minutes, all will reassemble in the gym to share cookies and
milk and to make Advent wreaths. Free CDs with Advent music recorded
by the St. Catherine Adult and Children’s Choirs will be available
for each family attending. Reflection materials for home use for adults
and children will also be provided.
Triduum: Saturday March 3, 6-8:30pm:
We will gather for a dinner after the 5:00 mass. Food will be provided.
After sharing a meal, all present will return to the church where several
of our youth will proclaim the story of Exodus. After the proclamation,
adults and youth will meet in the gym to reflect on the Exodus story
and how this story connects with the sacred celebration of the Triduum.
The importance and significance of the Triduum in our faith tradition
will be explored. Children will meet in the school cafeteria and will
also reflect on the celebration of the Triduum. Children will have an
opportunity to make Easter cards for outreach, create a family grace
for meals during Lent, paint, and participate in non-competitive games.
We will gather together after one hour and will close with a prayer
and blessing.
Easter and Pentecost: Sunday May
20th, 11:45am-2:00pm: We will gather after the 10:30 mass for a simple
lunch (food will be provided.) After lunch, all will gather in the church
to watch Betsy Beckman, an extraordinary liturgical dancer, proclaim
the Road to Emmaus. Afterwards, adults and youth will meet in the school
gym to reflect on the power of the resurrection and the transforming
gift of the spirit at Pentecost.
Children will gather in the basement of the church to reflect on the
performance and to hear the story of Easter and Pentecost. We will play
games, paint, draw, and make a snack together.
After one hour all will gather together for a snack and a final blessing.
We hope to make these gatherings appealing and
fruitful for all ages. We will need generous volunteer support to make
them rich, meaningful, and well organized. If you are interested in
volunteering to assist in any way, please contact Jeanne
Hall. If you need transportation or can provide transportation,
please contact Jeanne Hall at (206) 524 8800.
