Baptism

Victoria meets with new parents to prepare them for the baptism of their children and for being effective Catholic parents. Baptism classes are scheduled as needed throughout the year.

First Reconciliation

This program prepares children in second grade or higher (already baptized Catholic) for the Sacrament of First Reconciliation. Classes will be held on Sunday mornings from 9:30-10:25 in the church basement on Oct 3o, Nov 6 and 13, and Dec 4.  First Reconciliation will be celebrated on December 10.  Our First Reconciliation parent meeting will be held on October 24 at 7pm in the the Benincasa Center.

First Eucharist

This program prepares children in second or higher (already baptized Catholic) for the Sacrament of First Eucharist. Children will attend six Sunday morning classes (March 4, 11, 18 and April 15, 22 29)  and one Friday afternoon class (May 4) to prepare to receive the sacrament on May 5. Our First Eucharist parent meeting will be held on February 13 at 7pm in the Benincasa Center.

Rite of Christian Initiation for Children (RCIC)

Faith Formation classes for  children/youth in second grade or higher who are interested in joining the Catholic church will begin on October 13 at 7pm in the Benincasa Center.   Classes will be held on Thursday evenings October—mid-May from 7-8:30 in the Benincasa Center.

Sunday School

Sunday morning faith formation classes for children in grades Pre-K—6 will meet 2-3 Sundays per month from late September through early June. Classes are held from 9:30-10:20am in the Benincasa Center. We offer two classes:  Pre-K—2nd grade and 3rd—6thgrade.

The younger children’s class will use a curriculum called Godly Play.  The teachers and children will creatively and reflectively explore parables, sacred stories, the sacraments, prayer and liturgy.

The older children’s class will thoughtfully and creatively explore our faith through the use of a 3 year spiral curriculum called “Christ Our Life.”  In the first year we will focus on the core tenets of the Catholic Faith, the second year on the Ten Commandments and Beatitudes, and the third year on Worship and Liturgy.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word

Children’s Liturgy of the Word will be offered 2 Sundays/month at the 10:30 mass from October through May.  This program allows children ages 4-10 the opportunity to leave the main assembly after the opening prayer and gather for a more age-appropriate and engaging proclamation and breaking open of the scripture.

Vacation Bible School (VBS)

Children 4-12 are invited to participate in Vacation Bible School, a fun-filled opportunity to explore scripture through storytelling, drama, art, outdoor games, songs, and skits! Vacation Bible School is held one week each summer. We host thisevent with Blessed Sacrament. High School and Jr. High volunteers are encouraged to participate as leaders.

Youth Ministry – Junior High
