June 3, 2020, 7- 8:30pm

Presenter: TBD Explore how we as Catholics can engage in respectful and open dialogue with those whose political, ideological and religious views may differ from our own. How can Catholics take part in civil conversation, to grow in wisdom and knowledge, to learn about contemporary social issues? Can or should Catholics try to influence or sway the beliefs of others?

Faith-Filled Service to God’s People

YOUR COMMENTS ARE IMPORTANT - DON'T FORGET TO COMPLETE THE:

ARCHDIOCESAN PARISHIONER SURVEY FOR PASTORAL PLANNING (LINK)

Prior to the pandemic, Archbishop Etienne began an long-term pastoral planning process.   As part of that process,  all practicing lay Catholics in the Archdiocese are invited to complete an online survey that seeks to better understand the experiences, beliefs, needs, desires and faith trajectories of Catholics across western Washington.   Your responses are anonymous and confidential.  Locate the link on the front page of our parish website or go to  CatholicSurvey2020.org.

ST. CATHERINE OF SIENA SCHOOL NEWS

St. Catherine was a leader in quickly developing an education model for online learning.  It was , and continues to be, a huge transition for our teachers, school staff, students and parents to receive their school lessons online.  In the midst of this challenge, the amazing members of our St. Catherine staff amd families have moved forward in learning and relating in new ways.

ENROLLMENT IS OPEN FOR ST. CATHERINE SCHOOL

The school is enrolling students for next year.  We are excited to announce our new full day preschool program, offering before care starting at 7:00 am and after care going until 6:00 pm.  Please invite your relatives and friends to check out the unique programs, academics and faith formation at St. Catherine school. contact Kristin Litke at klitke@stcatherineschool.net .

Visit the school website at www.stcatherineschool.net

DO YOU KNOW OF PARISHIONERS NOT RECEIVING FATHER'S WEEKLY MESSAGE?    We are doing our best to connect with every parishioner by email or postal mail.  I realize some people are still falling through the cracks.  If you know of someone who is not receiving communication from St. Catherine Parish, please have them call the office, or forward their name to us.  You can also email Carolyn at cfoster@st-c.org.

In addition if you know of someone who would like to be called by phone to check in with them or needs errands, let us know!  We have volunteers ready to do this.  Thank you!

PUTTING OUT A CALL FOR CLOTH MASKS  -  Thank you to those who hav already dropped of masks!
We are looking forward to being together again in St. Catherine Church. We realize, when we come together again, we will need to continue to use social distancing practices. We are presently planning to have the church open for prayer a couple of times a week.  In preparation we want to collect home-sewn masks, as we will require masks to be worn in church at this time. If anyone has the time and talent to sew masks, please leave them at the parish office.  You can use the drop slot to the right of the front door.

OPTION IF YOU DON'T HAVE ELASTIC:
With elastic hard to come by, here is a hot tip from a blogger: cut knit material, like old t-shirts, into strips of 1” x 18” – no need to hem. When you yank on them, they naturally curl into a tube. There is even a video: https://www.madeeveryday.com/fabric-face-mask-free-pattern/

Mask pattern options can be found on the Jo Ann Fabric site: (Link)

The Wild Goose
A Virtual Retreat with Fr. Dave Pivonka, TOR

***

Fr. Dave Pivonka, TOR and President of Franciscan University of Steubenville, produced a 14 part series shot in various locations from Niagara Falls to the California desert, titled

The Wild Goose. "Wild Goose" was a term that the ancient Celts had for the Holy Spirit. In the series, Fr. Pivonka invites viewers to an encounter, or a renewed encounter, with the Holy Spirit and to let their lives be transformed by that encounter.

The Archbishop Brunett Retreat Center is excited to transform this high-quality series into a free virtual retreat. Register on our website and we will send an example retreat schedule that you can follow, a study guide with reflection questions for each presentation, and links to all of the videos.

Please consider joining us for this inspiring virtual retreat with

Fr. Dave Pivonka

God love you,
