St. Vincent de Paul’s Centro Rendu program in South King County is in desperate need for diapers in sizes #2, #3, #5 and #6 for young mothers in low income families in Kent and the surrounding communities. If you would like to contribute to this need, there will be members of St. Vincent de Paul at the church exits after Mass the weekend of September 27 to collect packages of diapers or monetary contributions. ST. CATHERINE'S JULY 2020 STEWARDSHIP COLLECTIONS:

SEAFARERS' MISSION LOOKING FOR DITTY BAGS AND KNITTED HATS FOR CHRISTMAS

Dear Church,The pandemic has taken a toll on all of us. At the Seafarers’ Mission, we continue to reach out to seafarers as they visit our port. Because of disruptions more than 200,000 seafarers have been working well beyond their contract expirations. We have been able to distribute "ditty bags"--more than 1,100 of them thanks to a grant from the International Transportation Workers Federation's Seafarers Trust.  This effort, however, has decimated our supply of ditty bags and adult size stocking caps(as well as toothpaste, shampoo, and soap.)

WE NEED YOUR HELP! We have yarn and we need knitters! And we need more ditty bags. Would you be willing to knit a stocking cap for seafarers and/or provide us with more ditty bags? Please send ditty bags and stocking caps to: Seafarers c/o Joe Cotton Archdiocese of Seattle710 9th Ave. Seattle, WA 98104-2017

We are hoping to pack and distribute new ditty bags (with knit hats) during the Christmas season--maybe 2000+. However, we are low on these two items. We are searching for church groups or individuals who can help us with this urgent need. Please help us to share God's love with those who work at sea.

Thank you so much,

Ken Hawkins,Executive Director
Joe Cotton Director of Pastoral Care & Outreach
The Seattle Seafarers' Center, Archdiocese of Seattle

In order to promote catechesis that is foundational, sequential, and pastoral, the Archdiocese of Seattle is offering this 8 to 12 month program to learn both the “what” and the “how” of authentically passing on the treasures of our Catholic faith.  This program includes a series of classes presenting the Six Tasks of Catechesis as outlined in the National Directory of Catechesis and a series of online videos from the Augustine Institute’s Symbolon  program, whose content provides elements of how to know and live the Catholic Faith.  For more informAtion click here.

The Catholic Church supports public policies that serve the common good and are aligned with our Church teachings. The Catholic Church does not endorse candidates or political parties. You may encounter websites, sources, or mailers that claim to be Catholic. However, they may not be officially aligned with or sanctioned by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). If a source tells you to support a specific candidate or political party, it is most certainly not officially aligned with the Catholic Church. For information about national public policy, please refer to the USCCB website. Please consult the Washington State Catholic Conference(WSCC) for information about state and local public policies. When considering political candidates’ views on public policies, we recommend reading Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship: A Call to Political Responsibility from the Catholic Bishops of the United States.
