Called to follow Jesus and imitate His way of life

THANK YOU FROM WESTSIDE BABY FOR GIVING TREE DONATIONS!

Thank you so much for your donation of $1,373.34!  We truly appreciate your caring investment in our mission to provide essential items to babies and children living in low-income households in King County.

During a year that tested every fiber of our resilience, we ar especially grateful to hav your support.  Before he pandemic, almost 1 in 4 families in King County were experiencing diaper need.  Now, as families continue to contend with the impacts of COVID-19., we are responding to unprecedented levels of need; rapidly providing diapers and wipes, clothing car seats and other essential items to those who need them most.

Your investment will be thoughtfully used to serve the growing number of families experiencing unmet basic needs today and in the future.

Together, we can make a difference!

On behalf of the children, families, and agencies we serve, thank you for your generosity to WestSide Baby!

With gratitude,

Sara Cody Roth
Executive Director

NORTHWEST CATHOLIC SPECIAL COLLECTION
JANUARY 30-31, 2021

seattlearchdiocese.org/NWCC

NORTHWEST CATHOLIC is the official publication of the Archdiocese of Seattle, mailed 10 times each year to every registered Catholic household in Western Washington. Its mission is to promote the new evangelization and form disciples by proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ. A percentage of this collection goes to the CCC, which promotes evangelization by supporting communications through television, radio, internet, and other media, and through special projects of the Catholic press.

Support the archdiocesan magazine.
It is one of the most effective ways we have to proclaim the Gospel.

ARE ANY ST CATHERINE PARISHIONERS INTERESTED?

Matt Talbot Center, a program of Catholic Community Services is located downtown and is an outpatient addiction treatment program.

We recently received a call from this program.  They are presently looking for a group of volunteers to prepare and drop off either breakfast or lunch sack meals for 30 clients, one time a month.  There is no client contact.  The parish can help with the cost of food.

If interested, contact the parish office or contact Matt Talbott Center directly at Codyh@ccsww.org, 206-256-9865

FROM ARCHBISHOP ETIENNE:
Nominate parishioners for upcoming listening sessions

Please nominate parishioners to participate in listening sessions to inform the Archdiocese of Seattle's new pastoral plan.

Please thoughtfully nominate Catholic parishioners who can help provide representative and diverse feedback. For example, those from different generations, ethnic backgrounds, or geographic regions of the Archdiocese of Seattle. We are seeking Catholics who do not work in formal employment with the church.

We hope to select 600 parishioners to participate in 1 of 20 listening sessions (90-120 min commitment).

PREPARES - A PROGRAM OF CATHOLIC COMMUNITY SERVICES

Exciting news for PREPARES as we receive a great mention and article in Northwest Catholic. This article focuses on one of our many amazing volunteers, Pam Ames. Pam works as the PREPARES coordinator at St Joseph’s and St Peter Mission.

Her story is a powerful one about hearing one’s call to help others using the talents God has given them. She talks of how and why she joined PREPARES and how important the ministry has been to her.

The timing of the article could not have come at a better time. We are PREPARE-ing for our first annual Valentine’s Day funding campaign. This a big opportunity to increase awareness for the ministry as we move forward on one of our largest fund raising events. The link for the story can be found here.

PREPARES – Pregnancy and Parenting Support – is an initiative of the Washington State Bishops to provide a nurturing response and promise to mothers and fathers who have chosen life. A promise of support and care from pregnancy to their child’s fifth birthday. Regardless of religious beliefs, this parish based program offers low-income families vital life affirming services.

Statewide, PREPARES has supported thousands of families with one-on-one companionship and child essentials. To learn more, volunteer or donate to the Bishops’ PREPARES Valentine Appeal visit www.preparesforlife.org

100% of your donation will go directly to serve families in need thanks to the generous sponsorship of The Knights of Columbus Council #676.

SACRED HEART RADIO

JOIN US IN CELEBRATING OUR 20TH YEAR BRINGING THE LIGHT OF CHRIST TO THE NORTHWEST

Twenty years ago a small group of lay Catholics had a desire to bring Catholic programming to the Seattle area. The group incorporated in 1999 and began purchasing air time on KBLE AM 1050 to broadcast “Catholic Answers”.

Following the promptings of the Holy Spirit, Sacred Heart Radio began searching for a radio station to purchase. Miraculously, KBLE came up for sale in late 2000, and was purchased by Sacred Heart Radio. We began broadcasting Catholic radio 24 hours a day on KBLE AM 1050 on January 19, 2001.

Throughout the year we will celebrate our 20 years on the air by looking back at the many shows and guests that have aired on our station.

What is your favorite program or testimony from over the years? We would love to hear from you.

THE CALLED TO SERVE AS CHRIST CAPITAL CAMPAIGN UPDATE

The Called to Serve as Christ campaign has raised over $63 million toward the overall goal of $100 million in support of our retired priests’ pension and medical benefits, and to help meet costs for retired religious communities of women who have served the Church in Western Washington for decades. The first three waves of the campaign invited approximately 70,000 families to participate and Wave 2020 alone has another approximately 70,000 families. Wave 2020, due to COVID-19 wrapped up on the weekend of October 10-11, encouraging parishioners to make their pledge online.

If you have not yet done so, you can still make a pledge tp the campaign by visiting the campaign website’s online giving option found at https://www.calledtoserveaschrist.org/3.   Fifteen percent of donation from our parishioners will come back to our parish.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this cause and made a long-lasting impact on the support for retirement and medical costs for our sisters and priests.
